The Native Americans, also mistakenly called Indians, are as the name suggests, the people native to America. The Native American government was a tribal system. Each tribe would have its own crops, buildings, elders and council. The elders and council were highly respected among any tribe. After thousands of years in isolation, in 1496 the Nahullo, or Europeans arrived. In a few decades, the land once owned by great tribes was taken politically by the British, French, Spanish and the Dutch. The tribes were forced to leave their homes and their traditional lands behind and walk over a thousand miles in winter to get to a reservation. This event was known as 'The Trail of Tears' as so many Americans died. Soon after the American Revolution, George Washington begun signing documents to burn down and attack any remaining Native American tribes. Nowadays, the original Americans live in reservations.
