Over the past week and the upcoming months, we will be doing Oral Presentations for 1 minute and longer. I am doing my presentation on Friday about H. G. Wells. Other topics include: Swimming, WWI, WWII, Soccer Transfers, Space, The Big Band Theory, Irish Landmarks, Phones, Trees and Flowers. This article will focus on Herbert "Bertie" George Wells. My presentation.
Born in Kent, England in the year of 1866, H. G. Wells only discovered his talent for writing at the age of twenty, though it was ten years later before he could afford to make any chance of making it into a career. His first published book was The Time Machine. It was the first book with the concept of time travel within it. It goes through the first three pages explaining time travel and exactly what it is, though nowadays you just have to mention it and the majority of people know it. It is first person and it shows the sights that the main character saw in the future.
H. G. Wells, known as the Father of Miniaturised War Gaming and the Father of Science Fiction, along with Isaac Asimov, Jules Verne and Arthur C. Clarke, wrote novels which are now considered classics. Examples include The Invisible Man, War of the Worlds, First Men in the Moon and The Island of Doctor Moreau. I own all of these books as well as an extra copy of War of the Worlds.

Well's great novels are
the finest literary expression of
the ferment of scientific ideas that
produced our modern world view.
These are not just the foundation works
of modern science fiction, they are
literature as timeless as swift.
An essential collection.
